About da[w]bar house

Da[w]bar House started out as a group of people getting together in homes, telling the stories of God to one another.  After a while, we realized that the church needs more resources and more training for how to equip people to become tellers of the story of God.  So Da[w]bar House Press was born.  It's our hope that we can fill part of that gap and provide much-needed resources for the church.  We long to see the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

d[a]wbar house - the name

When we were trying to find something to call our get-togethers, we tried to define what we were doing.  Were we a church?  Were we just a bunch of people hanging out?

Well, we were telling stories about how God was intersecting our lives.  We were telling stories from Scripture about how God had acted in the lives of those who lived in those times.  We were allowing these stories to get inside us--to change the way we saw each other and saw the world and saw God.  Deuteronomy 4:7 came to mind, and we looked up the Hebrew word for "tell" in that verse.  It was "dabar," pronounced "daw-bar," so da[w]bar house was born.  When we decided to move into publishing resources, the name followed us.

We want to equip and empower people to talk about the stories of God when they sit at home, when they walk along the road, when they go to work, when they go to school, when they have dinner with friends . . . . everywhere and all the time.

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
